The Inspector‑General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has instructed the Katsina Police Command to reinforce security measures around schools throughout the state.
Deputy Inspector‑General of Police (DIG), Department of Finance and Administration, Sulaiman Abdul, relayed the directive during a two‑day operational tour of Katsina. While on the tour, he evaluated the security arrangements at selected educational institutions.
Police are now required to deploy and coordinate patrols to protect schools in the region.
“The command is ordered to intensify patrols, strengthen intelligence gathering and maintain high police visibility around educational institutions to prevent violent crimes and guarantee a safe environment for teaching and learning,” he said.
During his visit, the DIG toured the Police Children School and the Government Girls Technical and Commercial College in Charanchi Local Government Area. He inspected perimeter fencing, access control points, security posts and the presence of police personnel to assess the existing security measures.
Separate meetings were held with school management to gather firsthand information about their security challenges. The DIG urged administrators to enforce strict access control measures and to report suspicious activities within and around their premises to security agencies promptly. (NAN)
