Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Thaddeus Ezeagu, who acted as a principal coordinator for Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign in Sokoto State, has formally announced his bid for the governorship of Imo State.
Ezeagu revealed his intention at a declaration ceremony that gathered supporters and political allies from across the state.
He explained that his candidacy is motivated by a desire to rebuild public confidence in governance through leadership that puts the people first.
Should he win, Ezeagu said his administration will prioritize security, quality education, job creation, citizen welfare, and efficient service delivery.
He stressed that security is essential for fostering economic growth and social stability in Imo State.
According to Ezeagu, restoring trust in government requires people‑centric policies, transparency, youth empowerment, and continuous infrastructure development.
Ezeagu committed to a substantial investment in education, aiming to upgrade schools and enhance support for teachers throughout the state.
He also pledged to generate opportunities for young people via skills‑acquisition programmes and employment initiatives designed to curb poverty and unemployment.
The former campaign coordinator assured residents of Imo that his government would be inclusive, emphasizing accountability and grassroots development.
He affirmed that his administration will work to ensure the benefits of democracy reach every community, not only urban areas.
Political analysts have described Ezeagu’s entry into the race as a notable development in Imo State’s political arena ahead of the upcoming governorship election.
