I spent N340m on weed in six years — Ice Prince

Nigerian singer and rapper Ice Prince revealed that he spent approximately N340 million on weed between 2020 and 2026 before quitting the habit.

The “Aboki” artist disclosed the figure during a recent episode of the Black Box X Nevon HQ podcast, where he discussed lifestyle changes, a weight‑loss journey and his decision to embrace celibacy.

He said the N340 million was spent on purchases from a single dealer in Lagos, and that he did not include money spent on supplies from other dealers in Abuja, Jos, Ghana and London.

“I’ve been celibate for six months, and for smoking, it’s been two months. I cut out weed and cigarettes,” he explained.

“From 2020 to 2026, I spent N340 million on weed from just one dealer alone, not to even mention my other dealers in Abuja, Ghana, Jos and London. This is just one dealer who lives close to me in Lagos,” he added.

The rapper noted that he used to smoke two packs of cigarettes daily and spend about N60,000 on weed each day, especially when he had friends around him.

“For cigarettes, I smoked two packs a day, and I stopped alcohol about a year ago when I started my weight‑loss journey. It was easy because I wasn’t really an alcohol person. But cigarettes — I was addicted and a chronic smoker,” he said.

“I smoked N60,000 worth of weed every day and when I had people around me, I bought for them too,” he added.

Ice Prince said his transformation began after music producer Chopstix encouraged him to focus on his health and fitness.

He explained that the producer visited him every evening to walk with him, which eventually motivated him to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

“He didn’t just say it; he started coming to my house every day around 8 p.m. and we would walk for about an hour. Later, I continued doing it on my own,” he said.

The rapper added that he changed his eating habits, stopped eating late and gradually adjusted to a healthier routine.

He reflected on fatherhood and how his son changed his perspective about life and public behaviour.

“When I had my son, the joy came later. At first, I thought it was a burden because of everything happening around me at the time. I was attacked a lot online. I remember Wande Coal; Wizkid also gave birth, and we were used as the bad boys of the industry, and we were not labelled correctly,” he recalled.

“It was a time Twitter was new, and the attacks were enormous. It wasn’t cool at the beginning, and over time I grew to love him more,” he added.

“But he changed my life and made me see things differently. When I do things now, I think about how it could affect him because people know he is Ice Prince’s son,” he stated.

On celibacy, the rapper described it as part of a spiritual journey inspired by fellow rapper Phenom.

“Celibacy is more of a spiritual journey. Phenom inspired me. He used to talk about it and I thought he was joking at first, but after doing my research, I started seeing the spiritual benefits,” he said.
