I regret spending my BBNaija prize money to help family members – Phyna

Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Josephina Otabor, better known as Phyna, said her biggest regret is that she spent the prize money she earned from the show on family members instead of investing it.

Phyna explained that she was young and inexperienced when she left the show and did not manage the prize money properly.

During a recent livestream, the reality star blamed her relatives for failing to give her sound financial advice.

She said that instead of encouraging her to invest, they repeatedly demanded financial support and even turned against her when she could not meet their requests.

“The mistake I made was using my Big Brother Naija prize money to support family members instead of investing it. I thought I was helping my family members and sorting out their debts. I was spending generously on them. None of the older family members called me to give me financial advice on how to invest or manage the money well,” she said.

“All of them were constantly demanding money from me for several things. I dug a lot of boreholes for family members. But the moment I started saying ‘No’ that was the beginning of my problem with family members. They complain and even call me out in the media whenever I can’t meet their demands. But now that the money has finished, I’m the only one facing the reality alone,” she lamented.

DAILY POST notes that Phyna received a N100 million grand prize as the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7 in 2022.

The package consisted of N50 million in cash and another N50 million worth of prizes from the show’s sponsors.
