A video clip showing a stakeholders’ meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) devolving into violence in Abuja has surfaced online.
The Daily Post reports that the disturbance began when ADC stakeholders, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) representatives and Senator Ireti Kingibe, gathered before the distribution of materials for the senatorial primary scheduled for Saturday.
According to the report, the Chairman of the election committee, Mr. Abubakar Adams Chika, and the secretary, Mr. David Godwin, had called the stakeholders to the FCT chapter’s secretariat to explain the process for the exercise.
The meeting, which was initially peaceful, ended abruptly when Tijani Mubarak and four others allegedly entered the venue with sticks.
Tijani confronted the committee chairman for refusing to meet with him privately, sparking a heated exchange that was captured on video.
The Daily Post notes that Tijani reportedly opposed the election of Ireti as the party’s candidate for the FCT senatorial seat.
Despite the confrontation, Ireti has been declared the winner of the primary election.
