Hull City defeated Middlesbrough 1‑0 in the Championship play‑off final on Saturday, securing promotion to the Premier League.
The club is the first team since Blackpool to finish sixth in the regular season and still achieve promotion.
The only goal came in the 94th minute when Oli McBurnie capitalised on a goalkeeper mistake to slot the winner past the opposition.
After Sol Brynn punched a cross into the box, McBurnie was quickest to react and score.
Hull City will join Coventry City and Ipswich Town in the Premier League next season.
For Middlesbrough, who were reinstated following a semi‑final loss amid Southampton’s “Spygate” scandal, it means another campaign in England’s second tier.
