How Arokodare disrupted Wolves training to force move to Fiorentina

Nigeria international Tolu Arokodare reportedly brought a Wolverhampton Wanderers training session to an abrupt end after refusing to leave the pitch while demanding a transfer to Italian side Fiorentina.

According to the BBC, the 25-year-old striker staged the protest during Monday’s training session by sitting on the pitch and insisting the Championship club allow him to complete a move to the Serie A outfit.

His actions prompted newly appointed Wolves manager Cesar Peixoto to cancel the session as the club’s preparations for the new season were disrupted.

The report added that Arokodare will not be part of the squad for Wednesday’s pre-season friendly against Maidenhead United.

The transfer dispute comes after Wolves rejected Fiorentina’s offer for the Nigerian forward despite reportedly accepting a separate bid from Turkish club Trabzonspor.

Arokodare’s latest actions mark another disciplinary issue during his time at Molineux. In April, he was sanctioned by the club following an altercation with young forward Mateus Mane.

The striker joined Wolves from Belgian side Genk in a £24 million deal last summer but endured a difficult debut campaign. He scored just three Premier League goals as Wolves finished bottom of the table and were relegated to the Championship.

The incident presents an early test for Peixoto, who only recently took charge after replacing Rob Edwards in a surprise managerial change last month.

The former Portugal international arrived from Portuguese club Gil Vicente and is expected to lead Wolves’ bid for an immediate return to the Premier League.

Arokodare, who has become a regular member of the Super Eagles squad, is yet to publicly comment on the reported training ground protest or his future at the club.
