Mohammed Hayatu‑Deen, a former banker and economist, has become the first presidential candidate from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to formally submit his completed nomination papers ahead of the party’s presidential primary.

The documents were handed over in Abuja on Wednesday evening, reinforcing Hayatu‑Deen’s early lead in the race after he had earlier become the first aspirant to secure the party’s expression of interest and nomination paperwork.

Speaking to supporters shortly after the submission, Hayatu‑Deen outlined his presidential agenda, which would address Nigeria’s escalating economic difficulties, create new jobs, and restore security nationwide.

He said his administration would “aggressively lower the skyrocketing cost of living,” launch “a clear roadmap for mass job creation,” and implement “a strategic plan to end insecurity across the federation.”

The ADC is expected to see heightened political activity in the coming weeks as additional aspirants express interest in the 2027 presidential contest.
