Hansi Flick has confirmed that he is prepared to sign a new contract with Barcelona after leading the club to the La Liga championship.

The German manager said an agreement has been reached to keep him at the Catalan side until 2028, following Barcelona’s successful league‑winning season.

Flick’s future had been the subject of speculation in recent weeks, but the former Bayern Munich coach said he now feels fully settled at the club.

Speaking after Barcelona secured the title, Flick noted that talks about the extension moved quickly.

“Has this been announced? I’m sorry, but I’ve had a lot on my mind,” Flick said.

“I’m very grateful to the club for the opportunity to coach until 2028. In recent days, it’s become clear to me that I’m in the right place.”

Flick targets more success

Even though the league title was secured with matches still to play, Flick said Barcelona remain motivated to finish the campaign strongly.

“The goal now is to reach 100 points, and to do that we have to win the three remaining matches and play well,” he said.

The manager also turned his attention to European objectives, stressing that the team must aim higher after re‑establishing domestic dominance.

“Now it’s time to keep winning and try again to win the Champions League,” Flick added.

Barcelona’s title‑winning season is being viewed as a significant turnaround after recent years marked by inconsistency and financial uncertainty.

Coach praises squad leadership

Flick highlighted the impact of several senior and younger players throughout the season, commending the leadership displayed in the dressing room.

“There’s Gavi, who, since returning to training, has raised the level of our sessions; he’s the heart of the team,” Flick explained.

He also praised Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Ronald Araújo and Raphinha for helping maintain standards during the campaign.

Reflecting on the season, Flick mentioned injuries to key players, including Lamine Yamal, but said the squad responded strongly in both attack and defence.

“We’ve conceded the fewest goals, and nobody expected that,” he said.
