Hajj: Kaduna Begins Luggage Screening Process

The Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has begun screening luggage to ensure compliance with weight limits and to detect contraband.

Professor Muhammadu Mustapha Gwadabe, Chairman of the Luggage Screening and Weighing Sub‑Committee, said the process started on Thursday night.

A statement released on Sunday by Chief Press Secretary to Governor Uba Sani, Malam Ibraheem Musa, noted that Prof. Gwadabe praised the pilgrims for following the airline’s instructions.

Gwadabe added that the Agency has installed scales on every floor of the building, allowing pilgrims to weigh their bags before the official screening.

He reported that luggage for passengers on the first flight has already been screened successfully, and the two 23‑kilogram bags are being removed from the pilgrims’ residence.

Prof. Gwadabe reiterated that each pilgrim may bring two bags, each limited to 23 kilograms, and that carry‑on luggage must not exceed eight kilograms.

The Chairman also warned that sharp objects and liquids are prohibited in checked bags, and that large quantities of perfume are not allowed on the aircraft.

He announced that the return flight will now depart on June 16 instead of the previously scheduled June 15, urging pilgrims to remain patient.

Gwadabe encouraged them to use the additional day to pray for themselves, their families, Kaduna State, and Nigeria as a whole.
