Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for governor of Kano State, said he is confident that his party will defeat the current administration in the 2027 election.

Gwarzo made the statement while speaking to supporters at the event where he formally affirmed his candidacy, asserting that the ruling government will not win a second term.

“We are the followers of Kwankwaso. We are here, and we continue to pray day and night. By the will of Allah, this government will be defeated in a single stroke,” he declared.

The former deputy governor added that the NDC and its supporters are united and determined to bring a new direction to Kano State.

He said the enthusiasm of members of the Kwankwasiyya movement shows that change can be achieved through democratic means.

Gwarzo highlighted grassroots mobilisation and ongoing engagement with the public as key factors that will influence the next governorship election.

He also urged his supporters to remain peaceful and law‑abiding as political activities intensify across the state ahead of the poll.

“We must continue to reach out to the people and expand our base. At the same time, we should remain calm and respect the law,” he added.

Finally, Gwarzo called on residents of the state to carefully assess the performance of political leaders and make informed decisions when it is time to vote.
