A former Minister of Power, Mr Adebayo Adelabu, has stated that the total number of registered members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State does not reach 500,000.

Adelabu made the claim on Friday in a statement signed by his media aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro.

He resigned as Minister of Power to run in the Oyo APC gubernatorial primary but was defeated by Senator Sharafadeen Alli.

In the statement, Adelabu, who has alleged that the primary was manipulated, rejected claims that Senator Alli received more than 500,000 votes to secure the party’s nomination.

The statement described that figure as inaccurate.

Adelabu noted that the actual number of registered APC members in Oyo State is 153,640, not 500,000.

He urged party members to await the official declaration.

The statement also observed that the turnout indicates Adelabu has strong grassroots support across the state.

“Those in charge of the results need to be careful and not be used by anyone to truncate or alter the results because it is already clear to us from what we are collating from each ward,” the statement said.
