Guardiola says he has never trusted English referees.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said he has never fully trusted referees and match officials since arriving in England.

He also described the VAR system as “a flip of a coin”.

Guardiola made the comments to reporters ahead of Wednesday night’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace.

City need a win over Crystal Palace to maintain pressure on Arsenal in the title race.

The manager warned his players they cannot blame referees if they fail to meet their seasonal objectives.

“We lost the two finals of the FA Cup because the referees didn’t do their jobs they should do, even the VAR,” Guardiola said.

“When this happens it is because we have to do better, not (blame) the referees or VAR. I never trust anything since I arrived a long time ago.”
