Governor Yusuf reorganizes Kano’s special advisers in a major government reshuffle

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has announced a comprehensive reshuffle of his special advisers, appointing new officials and reassigning existing ones to enhance the performance of Kano State’s government.

The changes were disclosed on Thursday by the Director‑General of Media and Publicity at the Government House, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Under the new arrangement, the posts of Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs and Special Adviser on Liaison Offices in Abuja have been eliminated. The former holders of those positions have been reassigned to new roles.

Habiba Mustapha Barwa, who had served as Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs, is now Special Adviser on Special Duties (Women). Umar Uba Akawu, previously Special Adviser on Liaison Offices, Abuja, has been moved to the Cabinet Office as Special Adviser on Political Affairs.

Other advisers have also received new responsibilities. Akibu Isa Murtala has shifted from Administration in the Governor’s Office to Human Resources. Ibrahim Adam has moved from Information to Social Media, and Nasiru Isa Dikko has been reassigned from NGOs to Empowerment.

Governor Yusuf has appointed Bello Nuhu Bello as Special Adviser on Administration in the Governor’s Office; he had previously held the position of Senior Special Assistant on Administration.

New appointees include Ahmed Muhammad Aruwa, a former APC state publicity secretary, who will serve as Special Adviser on Publicity, and Buhari Sule Kura, who will be Special Adviser on NGOs.

Yahuza Ado Yankaba has been promoted from Senior Special Assistant to Special Adviser on Motor Parks.

The governor also approved the appointment of six additional special advisers, with their specific duties to be announced after his return to the country.

The statement said the reshuffle aims to improve administrative efficiency and align government institutions with the priorities of the Yusuf administration.

Governor Yusuf congratulated the appointees and urged them to justify the trust placed in them through “commitment, loyalty and dedication to duty.” He added that “public office is a trust that should be used to promote the development of Kano State and improve the welfare of its people.”
