On Tuesday, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike visited the residence of All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe in Abuja.

Details of the discussion have not been released, but the meeting is likely linked to recent political developments in Rivers State.

According to DAILY POST, the screening committee disqualified candidates loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara who were seeking seats in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

This action revives the ongoing rivalry between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Wike.

There are also rumours that the governor could be barred from contesting a re‑election bid under the APC banner.

It is worth noting that Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who serves in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, previously pledged that Fubara would not return to power.
