Governor Uba Sani Forms APC Consensus Committee Ahead of 2027 Elections

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has formed a high‑level consensus committee to promote party harmony and coordinate aspirant engagement within the All Progressives Congress (APC). The committee is led by Deputy Governor Dr Hadiza Balarabe and aims to strengthen internal democracy and maintain unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

Its role will be to liaise with aspirants, party leaders and other key stakeholders, helping to resolve disputes in constituencies where multiple interests clash.

Commissioner for Information and Culture Ahmed Maiyaki, who issued the statement announcing the move, said the initiative seeks to foster mutual understanding, political stability and consensus‑building inside the party.

According to the statement, the committee will deepen mediation and constructive engagement among aspirants and stakeholders across the state, and will encourage voluntary withdrawals when necessary to preserve party harmony and improve electoral prospects.

The creation of the committee underscores Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to inclusive leadership, internal cohesion and the preservation of unity within the APC.

The committee is chaired by the deputy governor, with Abubakar Rabiu serving as secretary. Other members include Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly Yusuf Liman; Kaduna APC Chairman Atiku Sankey; Secretary to the State Government Dr AbdulKadir Muazu Meyere; Governor’s Chief of Staff Sani Kila; Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General Dr James Kanyip; Commissioner for Information and Culture Ahmed Maiyaki; and Deputy Chief of Staff for Legal Services Dr Mustapha Musa.
