Abia State Governor Alex Otti urged the Renewed Hope Projects Media Team—visiting the state for a project tour—to conduct their work with professionalism, objectivity, fairness and accuracy.
The governor delivered the message on Tuesday evening in Umuahia, as the state government welcomed the media team that is inspecting projects carried out by President Bola Tinubu and Governor Otti.
Represented by Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, Otti described the visit as a key step toward enhancing transparency, accountability and public awareness of government initiatives nationwide.
"In carrying out this responsibility, I urge you to remain steadfast in the principles of professionalism, objectivity, fairness and accuracy," Otti said. "The nation requires journalists who can rise above such challenges, resist misinformation and contribute meaningfully to national development. We welcome scrutiny because we believe that genuine progress should be seen, assessed and reported objectively," he added.
The governor also encouraged the media team to engage freely with the people of Abia, noting that the projects undertaken by the state government in local communities reflect the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government.
In a statement on behalf of the Renewed Hope Media Tour team, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, the team leader, said his group would inspect key federal and state projects objectively. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the federal and state governments in driving national development.
