Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris urged residents to stay patient, law‑abiding, and dedicated to democratic principles as Nigeria observed Democracy Day.

In a statement released on Friday, the governor called on citizens to keep praying for peace, stability, and national progress, emphasizing that democracy depends on shared responsibility and understanding.

Idris asked people to uphold the rule of law, respect established authority, and avoid actions that could jeopardize public order and social harmony.

He also encouraged the public to report security threats through proper channels, noting that a peaceful society is vital for democratic governance.

The governor reiterated his administration’s pledge to enhance residents’ welfare by investing in key sectors such as road infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, water supply, and social welfare programmes.

Idris reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to maintaining peace and security, highlighting the role of cooperation among security agencies, traditional leaders, and local communities in reducing banditry and other criminal activities.

He pledged ongoing support for security operations and community policing initiatives aimed at safeguarding residents.

The governor urged Nigerians to prioritize national interests over personal or sectional concerns and to work together to strengthen democracy and national development.

He wished the people of Kebbi State and all Nigerians a peaceful and meaningful Democracy Day celebration.
