In Kebbi State, 492 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members were sworn in for the 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation. Governor Nasir Idris announced that he would enhance their welfare and security during the service year.

The pledge was made during the swearing‑in ceremony at the temporary NYSC orientation camp in Bausaura, Jega Local Government Area. Governor Idris urged the corps members to contribute meaningfully to their host communities.

Represented by Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development Nurudeen Bala‑Fingilla, the governor described the NYSC scheme as a vital platform for promoting national unity and fostering development across Nigeria.

He highlighted that corps members have, over the years, made significant contributions to sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, environmental sanitation and community development in Kebbi State.

The governor encouraged participants to engage actively in all camp activities, framing the orientation as an opportunity to build discipline, teamwork, leadership and a spirit of self‑less service.

He also urged them to embrace the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, stressing that practical and entrepreneurial skills are essential for wealth creation and self‑reliance amid limited government employment opportunities.

Earlier, NYSC State Coordinator Bala Dabo Kagarko confirmed that 492 corps members had successfully registered for the exercise, comprising 307 males and 185 females.

Kagarko also reminded participants to obey camp rules and regulations and remain law‑abiding throughout their service year.
