Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, inaugurated a digital training program for civil servants aimed at boosting efficiency and service delivery.
The ceremony took place on Thursday at the state’s ultra‑modern Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi.
During the launch, Governor Idris emphasized that the administration belongs to its workers and urged them to maintain their support.
“Nobody is better than you as far as this administration is concerned. Some people say a labour leader or a teacher cannot run the affairs of a state. With the help of Almighty God and your support, today, a teacher is successfully steering the affairs of this administration,” he said.
The governor explained that the program is intended to foster a sense of belonging among staff and create a conducive environment for productive work.
He also announced plans to improve workers’ welfare through schemes that would raise living standards, including loans for cars, motorcycles, and housing.
Highlighting the administration’s achievements, Idris noted that the government has renovated, reconstructed, and furnished more than 2,000 schools, rehabilitated and equipped 22 hospitals, and renovated 192 primary health‑care centres.
He added that the state has eliminated casualisation, absorbed all casual workers, and recruited 5,244 employees across various sectors.
Idris also stated that Kebbi has no outstanding obligations for salaries, pensions, gratuities, or death benefits. The state has introduced a new minimum wage of N75,000, which exceeds the federal benchmark of N70,000, and urged civil servants to continue supporting government policies that drive development.
Head of Service, TPL Malami Shekare, thanked the governor for prioritising the training and assured him of ongoing cooperation from civil servants. Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy, Ibrahim Mohammad Sakaba, said the e‑governance initiative will equip roughly 2,000 junior and middle‑cadre workers with essential digital skills for modern public administration.
The event concluded with the presentation of a “Digital Governor” award to Dr. Nasir Idris by Commissioner Sakaba.
