All electoral materials for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary in Benue State were distributed to every one of the 23 local government areas before the day’s voting.
Chief Press Secretary Sir Tersoo Kula released a statement noting that Governor Hyacinth Alia, who is also the Benue Central Returning Officer for the primaries, supervised the distribution at the party’s state secretariat.
The statement said the operation began at about 6:00 a.m. after Governor Alia received the materials at Government House on Friday evening around 8:00 p.m.
Before the distribution started, Governor Alia presented the election materials to party stakeholders at the APC State Secretariat.
Attendees included members of the State Working Committee led by Chief Benjamin Omale, local government party chairmen, local government executive chairmen, and other party officials.
Governor Alia called on party members to remain peaceful during the primaries, emphasizing that the APC is greater than any individual interest and that unity must be maintained.
He also instructed local government returning officers to allow eligible delegates to participate freely in selecting the party’s flag bearer.
Finally, the governor praised the APC’s past democratic achievements and expressed confidence that the party will hold power at various levels in the upcoming elections.
