Gombe University investigates day‑old baby found in female hostel.

The management of Gombe State University has launched an investigation after a day‑old baby boy was found in a female hostel on Friday, May 15, 2026.

Public Relations Officer Napthali Hadu confirmed the discovery and said the university had already begun an inquiry, promising that the results would be released in due course.

Hadu described the incident as unfortunate and a clear violation of the institution’s rules for all students, adding that efforts were underway to identify the responsible party and to impose suitable sanctions.

"I also heard about the unfortunate incident today at school. I will get back to you as soon as I gather more details," he said.

The baby has been transferred to Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, for medical care, while the female hostel has been placed under restriction as the investigation proceeds.
