Gombe State Governor Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya reiterated his administration’s commitment to maintaining productive partnerships that accelerate agricultural development, enhance livelihoods, and boost the state’s economic prosperity.

He made the statement yesterday during a reception of a delegation from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) of the British High Commission and Propcom+ at the Government House.

The delegation was in Gombe to conduct an annual review of the Propcom+ partnership and to discuss future collaboration opportunities.

The team was headed by Mr. Archie Stay, Food and Agriculture Adviser for the FCDO at the British High Commission.

Additional delegation members were Mr. Valentine Udida, Senior Programme Manager at the FCDO; Dr. Adiya Ode, Country Representative for Propcom+; and Dr. Olumide Ojo, Strategy Director for Propcom+.

Governor Yahaya expressed confidence that the Gombe–Propcom+ partnership would keep producing significant results, especially in agricultural productivity, climate adaptation, rural empowerment, and economic inclusion.

He highlighted that agriculture is a top priority for his administration as a key driver of economic growth and employment, and that working with respected international partners like the FCDO is essential to meeting the state’s sustainable development goals.

The governor praised the FCDO and Propcom+ for their ongoing support of reforms and interventions aimed at improving the lives of farmers, women, and vulnerable communities.

He especially thanked Propcom+ for its role in developing the state’s Agro‑Industrial Policy, which the State Executive Council has approved and is pending official launch.

He also assured the delegation that the Gombe State Government is ready to deepen cooperation and implement policies that will foster innovation, attract investment, and secure long‑term development in agriculture.

During the meeting, team leader Mr. Archie Stay explained that the visit aimed to evaluate progress in current Propcom+ engagements and to consult stakeholders on the partnership’s next phase.

He praised the Gombe State Government for showing strong political will and leadership in implementing programmes that promote food security, climate resilience, and inclusive economic growth.
