Glasgow 2026: Nigeria Lose To Australia In Men’s 3×3 Basketball Second Group Tie

Nigeria men’s 3×3 basketball team lost to Australia 21-15 in their second group fixture at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games on Friday.

Ikechukwu Nwamu led the Nigerian scoring with nine points, but the Australians proved too strong to secure the win.

Nigeria had kicked off their campaign with victory over the Cayman Islands and will face New Zealand next at 7:00 PM Nigerian time, with a semifinal place still well within reach.

Earlier on Friday, Esther Nworgu won Nigeria’s first gold medal of the 2026 Commonwealth, dropping two games record to win the women’s Powerlifting lightweight category.

Nworgu delivered Nigeria’s first fold medal of the Games, lifting 123kg to score 119 points.

Esther Oyema secured silver with a best lift of 125kg and 115.5 points, while England’s Olivia Broome took Bronze with 119kg and 106.6 points.
