Prophet Ajiboye Olayinka, the General Overseer of Land of Joy and Prayer Ministry in Ganmo, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with three minors inside the ministry’s mission house.
Justice H.A. Gegele of the Kwara State High Court, sitting in Ilorin, also imposed a 14‑year prison term on Olayinka for conducting illegal abortions of several pregnancies belonging to his victims.
The court dismissed the charge of bigamy against the defendant.
Olayinka faced an eight‑count indictment that included criminal conspiracy, unlawful sexual intercourse with minors, illegal abortion, and unlawful possession of firearms. These charges were brought under Sections 97, 235 and 283 of the Penal Code, Section 3(1) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, 2004, and Section 31(2) of the Kwara State Child Rights Law, 2006.
During the trial, the prosecution presented 12 witnesses and various exhibits.
In the testimonies of victims identified as PW3, PW4 and PW5, the prosecution alleged that Olayinka applied anointing oil to their private parts before forcibly engaging in sexual intercourse with them in the mission house.
The prosecutor further claimed that Olayinka had given the victims a Bible, demanding that they swear an oath of secrecy and threatening to kill them if they disclosed the incidents.
On 11 February 2026, the prosecution team led by Chief State Counsel Issa Zakari conducted vigorous cross‑examinations of the defendant and his witnesses before the court.
After the defense concluded, written addresses were filed and adopted, and the case was adjourned for judgment.
In his verdict, Justice Gegele stated that the prosecution had successfully established the offences of unlawful sexual intercourse with minors, rape, and illegal abortions, but had failed to prove the offence of bigamy.
The court described Olayinka as “a Pedophile and philanderer whose conduct should be deprecated by all and sundry in the society.”
Justice Gegele also ordered that the pump‑action gun recovered from the defendant be forfeited to the Federal Government.
