Erling Haaland finished the 2025/26 Premier League campaign as the league’s top scorer, securing his third Golden Boot in four seasons while playing for Manchester City.

The Norwegian striker was omitted from the City squad for the 2‑1 loss to Aston Villa, a match that also marked the end of Pep Guardiola’s trophy‑laden decade at the club.

Haaland scored 27 goals in 35 league appearances, helping City narrowly miss out on denying Arsenal the title.

He joins Alan Shearer and Harry Kane as the only players with three Golden Boot wins, and trails Mohamed Salah and Thierry Henry, who have each won the award four times in the Premier League era.

Brentford’s Igor Thiago finished second with 22 goals, a tally that earned him a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad.

Haaland opened the season in exceptional form, netting 19 of his 27 Premier League goals in the first 17 matches.

His impact was highlighted during a brief dip in form that arguably cost City the title. He scored only once—a penalty against Brighton—in seven games around the New Year, with the team winning just twice during that stretch.

The 25‑year‑old returned to his best level later in the campaign, scoring the decisive goal against Liverpool and finding the net in the title‑deciding clash with Arsenal last month.

Despite his contributions in both matches, City dropped points at Everton and Bournemouth, allowing Arsenal to claim the championship for the first time in 22 years.
