The Kautal Pulaaku Fulbe Association, a Fulani organization, has responded to an order issued by Plateau State Governor Barr. Caleb Mutfwang directing security agencies to shoot on sight any person caught destroying farmland anywhere in the state.

During a security meeting on Tuesday, Governor Mutfwang instructed security operatives not to spare any criminal element, specifically those who invade farming communities, kill residents and destroy livelihoods.

In a statement signed on Wednesday morning by its National President, Dr. Muh’d Hussaini Buzaye, the association described the governor’s order as extreme and urged its immediate rescission, warning that it could further heighten insecurity in the state.

Buzaye argued that directing security operatives to shoot every farmland destroyer while remaining silent on ethnic militias that attack, kill herders and poison cattle demonstrates a lack of concern by the Plateau State government for the lives of Fulani people.

The statement appealed to Governor Mutfwang to reverse the order and called for all security directives and enforcement measures in the state to be applied with strict fairness, justice and equal treatment for every community, without bias or discrimination.

He noted that the association’s appeal follows the governor’s recent statements directing security agencies to take decisive action against individuals found destroying farmland.

“While acknowledging the importance of protecting agricultural livelihoods and ensuring food security, the Kautal Pulaaku Fulbe Association also calls for justice and consistency in implementing any executive order and such must remain central in the enforcement of any security policy,” he said.
