The Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Sector Command, reports that it has arrested at least 321 drivers for a range of traffic violations during its “Operation Guduma” enforcement exercise.

The five‑day operation began on Monday and ended on Friday, covering major highways and strategic corridors across the state.

Odunsi Afolabi, the command’s Public Relations Officer, said the operation focused on offenses such as fake diplomatic number plates, overloading, dangerous mix‑loading of passengers and goods, and the movement of improperly latched containers. He added that these violations pose serious threats to public safety and contribute significantly to road traffic crashes.

Afolabi provided a breakdown of the arrests: 185 overloaded vehicles were apprehended, 127 number‑plate violators were arrested, four unlatched container violations were detected and sanctioned, three mixed‑loading offenses were recorded, and two dangerous driving offenders were booked.

He noted that the operation was carried out in strict compliance with directives from the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja, was supervised by Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) JO Asaolu, and coordinated by the Ogun State Sector Commander, RS2.2, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi.

“At the conclusion of the exercise on 22 May 2026, the Command recorded significant enforcement outcomes aimed at improving road safety and eliminating dangerous traffic violations across the state,” Afolabi said.

“During the operation, a total of 185 overloaded vehicles were apprehended, zero fake diplomatic number plates were recorded, two dangerous driving offenders were booked, three mixed‑loading offenses were recorded, 127 number‑plate violators were arrested, and four unlatched container violations were detected and sanctioned.”

Speaking at the operation’s conclusion, Sector Commander Oludare Ogunjobi praised the commitment and professionalism of the personnel involved in the special intervention patrol.

He emphasized that although the special operation has officially ended, enforcement and surveillance against the targeted offenses will continue throughout the state, reaffirming the command’s determination to safeguard lives and property on the highways.

The Sector Commander warned that the use of fake number plates poses a major security threat to residents and road users, stressing that the command will sustain efforts to identify and prosecute violators.

He also urged motorists, fleet operators, transport unions, and members of the public to continue complying with all traffic regulations and safety standards to reduce crashes and ensure safer roads for everyone.
