FRSC Deploys 1,889 Personnel for Special Eid al‑Kabir Patrol in Kano

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has dispatched 1,889 officers throughout Kano State in preparation for the 2026 Eid‑el‑Kabir celebrations.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the Kano Sector Command Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Labaran, the deployment includes both regular and special marshals. The operation is scheduled to run from May 25 to May 31.

"The special patrol is part of routine operational measures introduced during festive periods when there is usually high traffic volume on major roads," the statement added.

Idris Lawal, the Kano Sector Commander, said the patrol aims to reduce road crashes, minimise congestion, and safeguard lives and property during the holiday. He noted that the command has positioned 24 patrol vehicles, four ambulances, one heavy‑duty tow truck, two motorcycles, and additional equipment at strategic points across the state to enable rapid emergency response.

Lawal further explained that unit commanders and officers in all 44 local government areas have been instructed to ensure comprehensive coverage during the patrol period.

The FRSC will focus enforcement on speeding, reckless driving, overloading, mobile‑phone use while driving, and vehicles with worn‑out tyres or mechanical faults. Mobile courts will be employed to prosecute offenders, while rescue teams remain on standby for emergencies.

Motorists and other road users are urged to obey traffic rules, exercise patience, and avoid behaviors that could lead to accidents. The public is also encouraged to use the FRSC emergency line, 122, to report accidents or road emergencies for prompt assistance.
