Both teams are using the matches as part of their preparations for next month’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The Falcons secured a 2-1 victory in Friday’s meeting, courtesy of goals from Asisat Oshoala, who converted from the penalty spot, and midfielder Toni Payne. Senegal pulled one back with four minutes remaining in regulation time.

Nigeria and Senegal have a history of competitive encounters. In the qualifiers for the 2016 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, the Super Falcons defeated the Lionesses 3-1 on aggregate after drawing the first leg 1-1 and winning the return fixture 2-0.
At the 2025 WAFCON in Morocco, the Super Falcons will be aiming for a record-extending 11th continental title.
Super Falcons Target Another Title
Madugu’s side have been drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia and debutants Malawi. Senegal, meanwhile, will compete in Group A with hosts Morocco, Algeria and Kenya.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from July 25 to August 16 in Morocco.
In addition to determining Africa’s champions, the competition will serve as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The top four teams will secure automatic qualification.
