Popular Nigerian media personality Frank Edoho has spoken about his early career and the challenges he faced in the entertainment industry.

Speaking at a recent seminar, he noted that many observers assumed he was extremely wealthy because of his appearance and the prestige of the show, but the reality behind the scenes was far more modest.

Frank Edoho explained that he felt compelled to maintain a polished public image by consistently wearing suits and projecting confidence, even when his earnings did not match the perception of affluence.

Narrating his experience, he said:

“My first two years’ salary at the ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ show was ₦160k monthly, but I had to put on a suit and act like I owned all the money.”

“But when MTN came on, I just said let me just give a figure to my boss, the owner of the show. If I should mention it, you all will suffocate, and he was like, ‘Okay, we’ll give you 3 months backpay.’”

He added that the subsequent deal dramatically improved his financial situation and marked a turning point in his career as a television presenter.

Social media users responded to his remarks, with some emphasizing that appearances can be misleading and others commending his perseverance.

One user wrote, “He stayed consistent and it finally paid off.” Another commented, “TV made us think every celebrity was already rich.”
