France reports nearly 900 arrests after Champions League final riots.

France announced on Monday that almost 900 people were arrested following riots that erupted after Paris Saint‑Germain secured the Champions League title for the second year running.

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez told France Inter that “we’ve had more than 890 arrests. In total, that’s 45 percent more than last year,” and added that nearly 180 law‑enforcement officers were injured.

Celebrations were marred by clashes between youths and police in Paris and other cities, as cars were set on fire and shops were looted.

On Sunday evening, President Emmanuel Macron met the team at the Élysée Palace. He praised PSG as an “immense pride” for France but condemned the “unspeakable” violence, saying, “Enough. We are fed up.” He added, “This is not football, this is not sport, this is not what we love.”

One man died on a motorbike while celebrating on the Paris ring road, and authorities reported stabbings and other attacks.
