Sector 1 troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) responded to a terrorist assault on Yan Kamaye village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area, Kano State, in which four residents were reported dead.

Lake Chad region counter‑insurgency and security expert Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident in a post on X.

According to Makama, the attack occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m. on 11 May, prompting troops stationed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Yanchibi to mobilise quickly to the community after receiving a distress call.

He reiterated that the militants assaulted the village, killed four locals, and then withdrew.

“Upon reaching the site, troops found that four residents had been killed in the assault.

“The attackers also rustled an unspecified number of cattle before fleeing,” Makama said.

He added that troops have begun pursuing the fleeing assailants and attempting to recover the stolen livestock.

The incident is described as the latest in a series of violent episodes involving cattle rustling and attacks on rural communities across the North‑West and neighboring states.
