Four dead, two injured, two arrested after cult clash in Kwara.

Kwara State Police Command confirmed that four people died, two were injured, and two suspects were arrested after a cult‑related attack in Ilorin’s Post Office area on Sunday evening.

The statement, released on Monday afternoon, came from the command’s spokesperson, SP Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi.

The statement said the incident took place around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, 14 June 2026, when armed hoodlums allegedly stormed a makeshift bar near the railway line and fired at people who had gathered, then fled.

Police officers reportedly responded quickly to a distress call and transported the victims to the Police Clinic.

“Regrettably, four of the victims were confirmed dead by medical personnel, while two others are currently receiving treatment,” the statement said.

Preliminary investigations suggest the attack was cult‑related, and police confirmed that two suspected members of a notorious cult group linked to the incident have been arrested.

The suspects are in custody and are providing investigators with information to locate other members of the group.

The command said tactical and intelligence teams have been deployed to apprehend all persons connected to the attack and bring them to justice.

The incident was described as a serious threat to public peace and safety, with assurances that measures are underway to prevent a recurrence.

Police urged residents to stay calm and cooperate with security agencies by supplying credible information that could aid the investigation.
