Four dead and ten injured in road collision in Osun.

Four people died and 10 others were injured after a collision on the Ilesa/Akure Expressway at Omi Asoro Junction in Ilesa, Osun State.

The crash, which took place on Thursday evening, involved a Toyota Hiace commercial vehicle and a Suzuki commercial mini‑bus, commonly known as a Korope, both traveling toward the Akure end of the road.

Agnes Ogungbemi, the Osun Sector Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the incident in a statement released to journalists on Friday.

In the statement, Ogungbemi said, “Four people died while 10 others sustained injuries. Three of the victims, two male adults and a female child, died instantly. Another passenger died this morning. The remains of the deceased have been taken to Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa.”

She added, “Those injured include seven adults and three children. The accident involved a Toyota Hiace commercial vehicle and a Suzuki commercial mini‑bus. The driver of the mini‑bus had no driver’s licence.”

Details about the cause of the crash were not immediately available at the time of this report.

Sources close to the scene said the accident involved a mini‑bus and a Toyota bus operating along the busy highway.

A trader near the scene, identified only as Tobi, said the collision occurred around 9 p.m. when a bus carrying phone accessories and electronic appliances collided with an intra‑city mini‑bus operating within the Ilesa metropolis.

Tobi said the impact drew the attention of residents and road users, who rushed to assist victims before emergency responders arrived.
