Four Bauchi Representatives Leave PDP to Join APM in 2027

Four members of the House of Representatives from Bauchi State have left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

During a plenary session on Thursday, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas read the formal defection notices.

The lawmakers who switched parties are Muhammed Shehu of the Zaki federal constituency, Aliyu Garu of the Bauchi federal constituency, Sani Tanko of the Shira/Giade federal constituency, and Mansur Soro of the Darazo/Ganjuwa federal constituency.

In a separate move, Jeremiah Umaru, the representative for the Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba federal constituency in Nasarawa State, defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Daily Post reports that several legislators in the green chamber have changed parties since the beginning of the year, ahead of the upcoming general election.

On Tuesday, eight lawmakers moved from the PDP to the APM. Three legislators also transferred from the ruling APC to the PDP and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

On Wednesday, three more lawmakers left the APC, joining the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
