Ex-National Chairman, SDP, Shehu Gabam
On Tuesday, the Federal Capital Territory Chief Magistrate Court arraigned former Social Democratic Party National Chairman Shehu Gabam on charges of alleged misappropriation, breach of trust, and forgery concerning party finances.
Gabam appeared before Chief Magistrate Amauche Onyedium together with the party’s former National Youth Leader Chukwuma Uchechukwu, under case number DCC/10/2026.
The criminal complaint was filed by the incumbent SDP National Chairman Sadiq Gombe, invoking the applicable provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.
During the hearing, Gabam entered a plea of not guilty to the accusations.
The court subsequently granted bail to the former SDP chairman, setting the amount at N3 million and requiring two sureties who own land in Abuja.
Chief Magistrate Onyedium also directed Gabam to surrender his international passport to the court registrar until the case is resolved.
The case was then adjourned to May 25 for the next hearing.
After the proceedings, Gombe told journalists that the court action forms part of an effort to restore accountability and discipline within the opposition party,
