Victor Boniface, the forward for Werder Bremen, revealed that while he was playing in Norway he regularly took salary advances from his club.
He explained that the advances were necessary because he needed to travel back to Nigeria each December.
In a video shared with friends, the Super Eagles striker said the club would later deduct the advance from his pay.
He said: “When I was in Norway, I saved money to travel to Nigeria in December. And when it gets to December and I don’t have money, I usually collect two months advance.”
“They will later deduct the money gradually because I must travel back to Nigeria in December.”
Boniface played for Norwegian side FK Bodø/Glimt. He joined the club in March 2019, made 66 appearances and scored 23 goals before moving to Belgian side Union Saint‑Gilloise in 2022.
