The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State has completed its senatorial primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections, selecting candidates for the state's three senatorial districts.
After the exercise, Nura Khalil, who was the 2023 New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) governorship candidate, was chosen as the PDP nominee for Katsina South Senatorial District.
Hon. Aliyu Abdulmumini Abdullahi won the party’s ticket for Daura Senatorial District, while Hon. Hamisu Gambo secured the nomination for Katsina Central Senatorial District.
The primaries were conducted simultaneously across the three senatorial zones and were overseen by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials, PDP party officials, and delegates from the relevant local government areas.
Following his nomination, Khalil thanked party leaders and delegates for their confidence in him and pledged to strengthen the PDP in Katsina South in preparation for the 2027 elections.
Gambo also spoke, promising inclusive representation and intensified grassroots mobilisation to secure PDP success, and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to tackling insecurity, unemployment, and economic challenges in the state.
Senator Yakubu Lado, the PDP governorship aspirant, urged party members to mobilise widely and ensure strong voter turnout, while calling on them to protect their votes.
Earlier, state PDP Chairman Hon. Nura Amadi Kurfi said the party is determined to regain political power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027 and urged members to stay united ahead of the polls.
