Former Minister Tuggar Loses APC Gubernatorial Nomination in Bauchi

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, has been eliminated from the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial race for Bauchi State in the 2027 election.

Tuggar resigned from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet on March 30 to pursue a governorship bid in Bauchi State, but was defeated by former governor Mohammed Abubakar.

The APC Governorship and House of Assembly Primaries Committee, chaired by AIG John Abang (retired), released the results on Saturday morning.

Abang reported that the former Minister and five other aspirants vied for the ticket, with Abubakar emerging victorious.

Abubakar received 57,517 votes, Tuggar 26,001 votes, and Nura Manu Soro 13,638 votes.

Other candidates included Bala Maijama’a A. Wunti, who scored 13,648 votes; Kabir Baba Ma’aji, who received 8,157 votes; Baba Abubakar Suleiman, who secured 7,688 votes; and Yakubu Yakubu Abdullahi, who polled 7,181 votes.
