A former candidate for the House of Representatives representing the Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency of Plateau State, Hon. Khalifa Pasali, said that if he had won a seat in the Green Chamber, one of his main priorities would have been to sponsor the creation of a Hisbah corporation in the state to address the rising problems of drug abuse, indiscipline, corruption, prostitution, and alcohol consumption.

Pasali shared his concerns in an interview with selected journalists in Jos on Wednesday, noting his worry over the growing social ills in the state, particularly in Jos North Local Government Area, which has a significant Muslim population.

He reiterated that, had he been elected, he would have focused on establishing a Hisbah body in the state to confront these challenges.

According to Pasali, the large Muslim community in Plateau State warrants the establishment of such an institution.

“We have over three million Muslims in Plateau State, and not having a body like Hisbah is a disadvantage to the Muslim community,” he said. “Such an organization would help promote moral values and contribute to the fight against social vices affecting our society.”

Pasali also emphasized that, even though he was not elected, he remains dedicated to pursuing initiatives that will benefit the people of Plateau State.

“I will continue to lobby for the establishment of Hisbah in Jos and will go to every extent possible to ensure Plateau gets what it deserves,” he added.
