Olaitan Folorunsho, known as Olawestern, has been selected as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Amuwo‑Odofin Constituency I in the upcoming 2027 Lagos State House of Assembly election. He won the party’s primary after defeating three other aspirants.

The primary was held in several locations, including Ikeja, Agege and Lagos Mainland, and was described as largely peaceful and orderly.

Folorunsho secured the ticket by a wide margin, receiving 851 votes. The other candidates received the following counts: Olulade Omoniyi 22 votes, K.O. Ogunbadejo 25 votes, and Eniola Adeshina 39 votes.

The result has drawn praise from APC leaders, stakeholders and supporters in Amuwo‑Odofin, many of whom view the outcome as a positive development for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

After the primary, Folorunsho addressed party members, calling for unity among APC supporters and urging residents to back all party candidates in the forthcoming elections. “We must continue to support the right candidates who have the experience and capacity to move the constituency forward. Hon. Seyi Lawal has shown commitment to the people and the growth of the APC,” he said.

He also thanked party leaders, delegates and supporters for their backing throughout the process. “I am indeed honoured by the massive turnout, show of love and support received during this peaceful and hitch‑free primary process,” he added.

Folorunsho said that, if elected, his focus in the House would be on grassroots development, empowerment programmes and initiatives aimed at improving residents’ welfare across the constituency.

He further praised President Bola Tinubu for what he described as impactful leadership and infrastructural development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

In a related development, Seyi Lawal emerged as the consensus candidate for Ikeja Constituency I. The Vice Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area, Samsondeen Oloyede, expressed confidence in Lawal’s ability to provide effective representation for the constituency and viewed his candidacy as an opportunity for improved development in Ikeja Constituency I.
