JALINGO — The Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Jalingo has denied allegations that subscribers’ funds were trapped in its electronic wallet system after the platform was suspended.
The hospital released a statement on Wednesday confirming that no patient money had been deliberately withheld.
These comments come after claims that money deposited into the digital payment platform became inaccessible once the service was halted.
FMC Jalingo said the wallet system was launched in April 2025 to streamline payments, reduce congestion, and eliminate long queues within the hospital.
Management explained that the platform was discontinued in January 2026 following a Federal Government directive that suspended such payment models in relevant institutions.
Although the hospital complied promptly, a communication lapse led some users to continue depositing funds into their wallets after the suspension had taken effect.
“The management wishes to categorically state that no subscriber’s funds have been deliberately withheld or trapped by the hospital,” the statement read. “We are committed to full transparency and accountability in this matter.”
The hospital also noted that refunds have been processed for subscribers who reported for verification after the platform was suspended.
It urged those who have not yet received refunds to visit the ICT department for verification and processing of their balances.
The hospital thanked the public for their patience and support, reaffirming its commitment to quality healthcare delivery in Jalingo and across Taraba State.
