Firefighters recover two bodies after car crashes into river in Ibadan.

The Oyo State Fire Service recovered the bodies of two passengers who died when their vehicle plunged into a river in Ibadan.

The bodies were retrieved from Ariyo River along Amuloko in Ona Ara Local Government Area on Friday.

Authorities say the incident involved a Toyota Avensis with an unknown registration number that lost control and entered the water.

Oyo State Fire Service Chairman Maroof Akinwande confirmed the event.

In a statement released to DAILY POST on Saturday, Akinwande said the recovered bodies were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force.

“Upon arrival, we confirmed that the vehicle had swerved off the road and submerged in the river. The rescue team immediately began operations, following all necessary procedures, and successfully recovered two casualties from the vehicle,” the statement read.

“The victims were subsequently handed over to officers of the Nigeria Police Force led by ASP Adesuwa Sesan from Ogbere Target Police Station in Ibadan for further action,” the statement added.
