Fire destroys multiple shops in Kaduna community

Several shops were destroyed by a fire in the Bakin Dogo area of Abakwa, Kaduna State, leaving traders tallying their losses.

The incident was announced in a statement from Bello El‑Rufai, the member of the House of Representatives for Kaduna North Federal Constituency.

He did not disclose the cause of the blaze.

The statement said the fire consumed numerous shops and caused significant economic losses for business owners in the area.

In response, the lawmaker said a committee has been formed to provide relief assistance and to work with community leaders on measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The committee will assess the situation on the ground, coordinate the distribution of an intervention fund, and collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen fire prevention and emergency response mechanisms in the community.
