The Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, FMSD&IGA, has verified and certified over 200 Zonal Intervention and Constituency Projects executed across the six geopolitical zones as part of efforts to deepen the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the grassroots.
The projects, executed within the last one year, focused on strengthening small and medium-scale enterprises, SMEs, farming, electricity supply, skill acquisition and job creation in rural communities across the country.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Onwusoro Maduka, disclosed this during his presentation titled: “Collaboration Activities of Government: A Strategic Pathway for National Development, Effective Governance and Sustainable Service Delivery in Nigeria,” at the 2026 International Civil Service Conference held in Abuja.
Maduka said the verification and certification exercise was aimed at ensuring accountability, transparency and effective service delivery in projects executed under the intervention framework.
According to him, modern governance can no longer thrive in isolation, stressing that collaboration, innovation, institutional coordination, citizens’ engagement, transparency and measurable outcomes have become critical components of effective public administration.
He said: “The myriad challenges confronting Nigeria today, including insecurity, unemployment, poverty, infrastructure deficit, economic volatility, climate change and declining public trust, can only be addressed through effective collaboration among the Federal Government, state governments, local councils, security agencies, development partners, civil society organisations and citizens.”
The Permanent Secretary further explained that strategic partnerships entered into by the ministry have already started yielding measurable improvements in institutional efficiency and governance processes.
He noted that collaboration between the ministry, Galaxy Backbone and the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation had significantly improved digital governance and institutional workflow.
According to him, the partnership contributed to the deployment of an Enterprise Content Management System, institutionalised paperless operations, enhanced transparency and improved records management within the ministry.
Maduka stressed that strengthening inter-governmental and public-private collaboration remains critical to achieving sustainable national development and efficient service delivery.
He recommended the introduction of stronger coordination frameworks, expansion of stakeholder engagement, deepening of grassroots governance, capacity building, promotion of joint monitoring systems and greater accountability mechanisms across public institutions.
The Permanent Secretary also advocated accelerated digital governance reforms, saying technology-driven systems would improve efficiency, transparency and public trust in governance processes.
He maintained that sustained collaboration among critical stakeholders remains essential for effective governance and long-term national development.
