Federal High Court judges begin their 2026 annual vacation on July 27.

Judges of the Federal High Court of Nigeria will begin their 2026 annual vacation on July 27, announced the Chief Judge, Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, in Abuja on Wednesday.

He said the break is authorized by Order 46, Rule 4(d) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019.

The vacation will run from Monday, 27 July 2026, to Friday, 11 September 2026.

Dr Catherine Oby Christopher, Director of Information for the Court, relayed that the holiday allows judges to rest and prepare for the upcoming legal year.

She added that, during the break, the court will continue to handle urgent matters through designated vacation courts.

Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Enugu judicial divisions will remain operational to address cases requiring immediate attention.

The public and legal practitioners are urged to file urgent matters only at the nearest designated vacation court.

Designated vacation judges include:

Abuja Division: Justices Joyce Abdulmalik and Obiora Egwuatu.

Lagos Division: Justices Akintayo Aluko and Ogazi F. Nkemakonam.

Port Harcourt Division: Justices P. M. Ayua and A. T. Mohammed.

Enugu Division: Justices F. O. G. Ogunbanjo and M. T. Segun‑ Bello.

The Chief Judge extended his best wishes for a pleasant vacation to his fellow judges.
