Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have recovered a Toyota Hilux that had been stolen from Abuja and transported to Kaduna State.
A statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the recovery was made possible “through a swift response by operatives of the Maitama Division.”
Josephine added that the vehicle was traced to Kubacha village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where it was recovered on the same day.
She explained that on 20 June 2026, the Divisional Police Officer of the Maitama Division, CSP Altine Daniel, received a distress call reporting the theft of a white 2014 Toyota Hilux, registration number BWR 712 CV, from the Wuse II area of the FCT.
According to the PPRO, the DPO immediately led a team to the scene, where the complainant said the vehicle had been parked at about 1:30 p.m. and was found missing roughly four minutes later, with an unknown person seen driving it away.
“Acting swiftly, all police formations and deployments along entry and exit routes in the FCT were alerted to conduct stop‑and‑search operations with a mandate to arrest any attempt to exit the FCT with the stolen vehicle,” the statement read.
“With the aid of digital tracking technology, the vehicle was traced and recovered at Kubacha, Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State, at approximately 3:30 p.m. of the same day. One suspect was arrested in connection with the theft.”
“The suspect and the recovered vehicle are in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances and identify possible accomplices.”
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, urged residents to remain security conscious and take proactive steps to protect their vehicles and valuables.
