The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has denied claims that Fulani herdsmen have entered Anguwan Dobi in the Gwagwalada Area Council, and has stated that the allegations pose no immediate security threat.
SP Josephine Adeh, the Command’s spokesperson, explained that the police were alerted to videos and reports on social media suggesting a herdsmen influx. “Police operatives were immediately deployed to the location and adjoining communities to assess the situation and ascertain the facts of the matter,” she said.
During the inspection, no unusual gatherings, suspicious movements, or individuals matching the descriptions in the reports were found in the area or its surroundings.
The Command assured residents that it is monitoring the situation closely and that an investigation is still underway to confirm the facts. “Residents are therefore advised to remain calm, go about their lawful businesses without fear or apprehension,” Adeh added.
She also urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious persons, movements, or activities to the nearest police station or via the FCT Police emergency lines 08032003913 and 08061581938.
