The family of 14‑year‑old Ezekiel Olapade has addressed the Inspector‑General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, requesting the swift arrest, investigation and prosecution of eight persons believed to have participated in the fatal shooting of the teenager in Ilobu, Osun State.

Dated June 23, 2026, the petition was filed by the family’s lawyers, Law Corridor, after the teenager was killed in a shooting on Sunday, June 21, in Ilobu, Irepodun Local Government Area.

The petition lists Kareem Saheed, known as “Tanfeani”, as the main suspect, together with Ganiyu Habeeb Olaide, Alani Odedowo, Yekini Ismaila (“Ayan”), Afeez Abass (“SS”), Adejumo Habeeb (“Jama”), Afeez Yekini (“Feleru”), and Oyeladun Muideen (“Akilapa Okinin”).

The petition was prompted by widespread concern after the teenager was allegedly hit by a stray bullet when armed men opened fire near the Irepodun Local Government Secretariat in Ilobu.

Witnesses earlier claimed that the attackers moved toward a palm‑wine stall opposite the council secretariat and fired after spotting a man wearing a cap in a political party’s colours.

The victim, whose mother is said to own the palm‑wine stall, was reportedly not the intended target.

In the petition, the solicitors noted that the family, witnesses and other community members identified the named suspects as those who allegedly took part in the attack.

“Our clients have informed us that following the incident, they, other eyewitnesses and members of the community identified the above-named persons as individuals alleged to have participated in the attack which resulted in the death of the deceased,” the petition stated.

The lawyers added, “Our clients have also provided us with photographs of the identified suspects together with other materials which they believe will assist the Nigeria Police Force in its investigation.”

The petition urged the Inspector‑General of Police to commence a “comprehensive, impartial and professional criminal investigation into the incident and ensure that anyone found culpable is prosecuted in accordance with the law.”

The solicitors stated that the killing had left the family “devastated and has equally shaken the conscience
